No longer on Mindfreak Black
September 5, 2017
Setzy is no longer on Mindfreak Black, his former teammate Hopey announced on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Hopey cited internal strife as the reason for the move, so it makes sense that Mindfreak Black would go in a different direction, despite surprisingly advancing to bracket play in the 2017 Call of Duty World Championships. Setzy is expected to find a new team prior to the start of the new competitive season.
Decent effort but no support in loss
August 11, 2017
Setzy posted a 54/50 KD during Friday's 2017 CWL Championship loss to Enigma6.
ANALYSIS
Setzy had the best series of all four players for Mindfreak in the series, but his efforts weren't enough for the team to avoid elimination from the tournament. Round 1 Hardpoint was his best showing, going 28/23 with 58 seconds of hill time. His effort kept the game close, but not close enough. He neared an even KD at 4/5 during Round 2 Search & Destroy and also supplied a bomb plant, but team kills and poor structure dropped Mindfreak down 0-2 in the series in an embarrassing 6-0 defeat at the hands of Engima6. Although the team bounced back to nearly equal its opponent on the slaying front in Round 3 Uplink, the group fell in overtime to end its run.
Gives nothing in loss
August 11, 2017
Setzy finished Mindfreak Black's loss to OpTic Gaming on Friday at Call of Duty Champs 2017 with a 37/63 KD, knocking them into the losers bracket.
ANALYSIS
Setzy was especially poor in this series in which all of his team was playing pretty bad. No matter the mode, it seemed as though he couldn't make heads or tails of what he was supposed to be doing around the map. He always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, as he was killed over and over again from start to finish. Not only that, but he didn't contribute in terms of objectives, either. He'll need to do much better if Mindfreak has any shot of surviving in the losers bracket.
